This is insane. I don't feel guilty, and I have nothing to feel guilty for. Just because they've both decided that they're completely out of their minds, and that I should be the target of their insanity -- which can be pinned on cabin fever, in Anthony's case, since he's been here longer than I have, but Michael doesn't have such excuses, and his is really the more worrying of the afflictions, since he's the one of us who's always been interested in girls, and not just as friends or misguided attempts at changing the way the wind blows! At any rate, just because they've completely lost their minds doesn't mean that I need to answer to them on the details of my love life, which finally, for once since 1998, doesn't involve attempts to get in my pants being made by fifty-something coworkers who are creepily reminiscent of Horace Bloody SLUGHORN. Furthermore, I should not feel guilty just because I slept and flirted with my ex-friend-with-benefits. It wasn't anything serious anyway, and I never committed to do anything with either of them, so Michael has no grounds to have gotten upset, or to have 'let his jealous streak take hold,' or to be saying things like, 'That is all I ever wanted you to do.' Bloody, presumptuous git. He's doing his intelligence all manner of injustice by even thinking that, just because he's decided that he's in love with me, I'm bound by some cosmic law to feel the same way about him.

And Anthony -- well. Whoever knows what to do about Anthony?

...I should probably talk to Lupin and McGonagall for Theodore, though. It's been over a week, almost ten days, and I promised I would. Suppose he'd have to be serious about switching sides to risk running afoul of everyone he'd run afoul of by doing so -- Bellabitch Lestrange, Rivers, Marcus Flint, to name a few, and not to mention his father -- but nevertheless. There's still the issue of how to explain how I came into any sort of knowledge about Theodore's intentions. Sneaking out and bringing back books that the Order can use to make fake family trees -- that's one thing. Sneaking out to have sex with your ex-friend-with-benefits and to buy cigarettes on the way home -- that's entirely another, and one that is distinctly less of a treat to have to explain to anyone. Especially the people I need to explain it to. Merlin, telling anyone else would be difficult enough -- but Lupin and McGonagall? Aside from the fact that they were my professors, they're notoriously easy to disappoint, and I daresay that this will effectively ruin any undeserved good opinions they still had of me. McGonagall's already had to deal with me and Michael drunk.

Bloody hell, I didn't actually plan on feeling the desire to smoke these things. Well. It's not like we don't have magic that solves the problem of any cancers or cigarette-related illnesses.

[/Private]

[Hexed to Professors Lupin & McGonagall]
So, well. This is going to be supremely awkward, but let's suppose that I have this friend. Theodore Nott. Let's also suppose that, maybe, I've come into some knowledge about a plan he has. To switch sides. What could be done about this?

[/Lupin & McGonagall]

Behaving like an adult is overrated and pointless.

I'd say it is no sur-- A plan? And forgive me, Mr. Boot, but you seemed very irate at those thoughts concerning Mr. Malfoy. What's changed your mind?

Why's that import-
It doesn't really matter, does it?
I'd really rather not discuss-
Fuck.

It's personal.

So what could be done about it?

I'm afraid I'd like to hear from Mr. Nott himself. It seems we've all been playing games in a time where we cannot afford to.

What's that supposed to mean?

I'm afraid I don't follow. He needs help, and it's dangerous for him to ask for himself, so he's asking through me. Where are the games in that?

I didn't mean to imply that Mr. Nott isn't sincere. However, it is not dangerous to contact us via these journals. At least as long as he knows the charms well enough. Does he? While I'm sure you have fine taste in mates, Terry, we'd have to be sure ourselves. He's not the only Death Eater affiliate to be in touch, you know. I'm afraid I don't understand what help he even needs to grant him such. He has been pretty off Voldemort's radar, has he not?

Additionally, Terry, there is Minerva's original question: what prompted this change of heart on your part? If I recall correctly, you were one of the ones saying that Draco is 'a prat who cannot be trusted' and that it was 'a fundamental law of the universe' that Draco was being punished for joining the Death Eaters, when, as far as we've heard, his motives were much purer than your friends. And excusing this sudden bout of hypocrisy change of heart with, 'It's personal' does a great disservice to your intelligence.

We're not asking these questions to be mean, Terry; we just have to make sure that no one's being played false. What did Theodore do to change your mind?

Yes, because murdering Dumbledore was such a pure motive.

It doesn't matter what he did. He wants to switch sides and he's using me as his liaison to the Order, to facilitate his doing so. I don't want to talk about what he did to change my mind, but I know that he's sincere and that he won't play us for fools. You lot are so quick to jump all over Draco Malfoy and his problems, but you won't even consider that someone else on the other side need help? And I'm the one being accused of hypocrisy by your pet Death Eater?

I said I'd be willing to listen to Mr. Nott, Terry. Calm yourself. No one said we wouldn't help Theodore if he truly wants it. However, we DO need to talk to him.

I do not take kindly to being called a hypocrite, young man. Not when I've never denied Theodore one bit of help. You didn't wish us running off on Mr. Weasley's word for Draco and you were correct. That would have been foolish. Yet, we cannot simply believe we need to help Theodore over your word, either. You are not the exception to every rule.

Well-put, Minerva.

Terry, we just have your safety and that of everyone else in mind right now. If you don't want to play along with that, then this conversation has little point in continuing.

I'm glad you agree, Remus.

[Remus]

I admit I don't understand it in the least. It is not good for either. Or Theodore apparently. If Terry won't deliver our message, shall we contact him ourselves? Theodore that is.

Terry's been wounded, Remus. I wish there was some way to fix that, but...there isn't. Only time.

We may have to, if Terry's so against explaining himself.

No one's saying that he hasn't been, but, as far as I'm informed, he hasn't been wounded by Draco. By his parents and most of Pureblood society, yes, but there's no reason for him to take that out on Draco, and he's smart enough to know that. If he'd talk about it, we could help expedite the healing process, which would make several things much easier.

I know, it's just -- he has to stop being so goddamn solipsistic about this. He isn't just hurting Draco with this nonsense; he's potentially keeping a so-called friend from getting help, he's upset Anthony before over this and, while Ernie handled it better, I still think he was upset, and he's generally causing concern in the people who care about him. And, of course, he's certainly not doing himself any favours by acting like he's six years old.

I'd rather Terry stopped being so ridiculous, but yes. I'll write to him straight away.

If you would like some company in being childish, I have a place. Penny hasn't made a public announcement of it, as far as I know, but come to my room. If you stand in front of my door as if you're coming out of it, you'll go left, past six rooms, turn right, and enter the third door on your left.
